Abbey Pynford Underpinning continue to work with NHBC dealing with foundation failures

Thu, 19/07/2012 - 14:12

Abbey Pynford is pleased to announce its continued working relationship with the NHBC after being awarded the contract to underpin a further two properties in Milton Keynes.

Abbey Pynford will be designing and installing a piled raft remedial scheme which, due to the nature of the soil strata present beneath the property, will require the use and installation of a hollow stem pile technique. A Hollow stem piling technique is generally adopted when the existing ground is loose and will not stay open allowing the auger bore to be top filled by concrete,  hollow stemming involves drilling down to the designed depth and grout injecting through the middle of the augers as they are withdrawn to form a pile. Abbey Pynford fortunately have access and use of specialist restricted access piling equipment which will enable them to utilise this method of piling in what will be an extremely restricted access environment. These piles will be installed up to 15m depth.

The property will then be placed upon temporary props divorcing it completely from the existing foundations that have been suffering from subsidence/movement. The new R.C raft slab will then be constructed and will in turn support the existing structure.

Pictures and Case Studies to follow on completion.
