Basement Engineering Division reduce risks, costs and duration of Basement Construction

Fri, 29/06/2012 - 10:38

Abbey Pynford's Basement Engineering Division has successfully altered a temporary works design package at a Grosvenor Estate project to in order to reduce risk, cost and the duration of the basement construction.

The project in Knightsbridge requires the demolition of an existing heavily reinforced concrete slab and the installation of a 4.1m deep basement below a mews property.  In order to achieve the demanding programme, Abbey Pynford Basement Engineering Specialists adapted the original temporary works scheme.  This reduced the number of piles from 20 to 4 and entirely omitted an extensive temporary propping and needle beam arrangement.

The temporary works designs, completed by our in house design department, were provided to the client with enough time to undergo the necessary 3rd party checks. The phases of works were planned to provide the client with an accelerated programme and a top-down construction to allow for super-structural works to begin whilst finishing the basement.

Abbey Pynford’s Basement Engineering Division has overcome considerable unforeseeable obstructions to complete over half of the basement construction and all of the temporary works within the required programme period.
