Complex Underpinning of Grade II listed 1865 London Underground Station

Following the design development and procurement process over two years, Abbey Pynford Foundation Systems were recently awarded the complex underpinning of the Grade II listed 1865 London Underground station buildings.

The works were undertaken to support the main Station Facade to Farringdon Station for Newtwork Rail as part of the Thameslink upgrade project.

Main Contractor: Joint Venture - Costain & Laing O'Rourke

Much of the work took place only a few centimeters directly above the overhead power lines and over the live Thameslink railway.

One Large Pynford beam was installed just beneath the main station entrance used by 1.7 million passengers per year.
