Coram Campus

London

Value: £199,000

Size: 570m2

Duration: 8 weeks

Client: Thomas Sinden Construction

Rig: Hutte 204

Scope of work:

  • This site required a foundation solution for a new three storey Community Centre that accommodated the surrounding protected trees under a TPO and a Grade II listed wall.
  • To cater to this we used our Treesafe system within the Root Protection Areas (RPA). Being a piled slab, Treesafe can accommodate the relocation of piles easily when tree roots were present, compared to pile and beam.
  • Our design included 300mm diameter piles, as this small diameter further minimised the risk to the roots.
  • By using Treesafe we avoided the excavation for piled, deep caps and beams which would have extensively damaged the roots. This also minimised drainage depths.
  • The reduced level of excavation required for the Treesafe system ensured that the foundation for the listed wall was not undermined.
  • This work was carried under the supervision, and with the approval of an Arboriculturist.
