The interpretation of site soil conditions for foundation design typically falls between the disciplines of Structural Engineering and Geotechnical Engineering.
As projects progress, complexities can arise that might not have been apparent at tender stage. Even the most experienced Structural Engineer can find themselves faced with geotechnical problems and design judgements outside of their training and expertise. We work collaboratively with Consulting Engineers to overcome such challenges for their clients.
Our foundation solutions are designed on a site-by-site basis. We use a number of proprietary items, unique to us. Although we promote our foundation solutions as ‘Housedeck’ (or Comdeck for non-domestic structures), it is a system reference, not a one-size-fits-all. So rest assured each foundation is designed to suit the specific challenges and loads on any given site; Housedeck, therefore, is as much a design philosophy as it is a product.

Should your consultation with our technical team confirm that one of our foundation systems would be an effective and cost-effective solution, simply specify the system on your drawings much like you would any other proprietary item.
As with other proprietary items, Abbey Pynford assumes full responsibility for the design of the foundation and would require only that a load-down from the superstructure be provided to enable the design.
How much will it cost my client?
We find that our systems are typically very cost-effective. The Housedeck system will typically include the floor construction integrally with the foundations, thus doing away with the mix of trades usually required to build up to DPC level.
On receipt of sufficient drawings and technical data, we will be happy to provide a detailed quotation to enable your client to make an informed decision on the foundation solution.
