Scope of work :

  • The design and installation of piled non-voided Comdeck slabs for flats, offices and housing
  • The installation of 1213no 300mm diameter CFA piles, ave. 7m deep, with a 13.5t midi piling rig
  • The installation of 240no 250mm diameter CFA piles up to 23m deep with 35t piling rig
  • The construction 225 and 300mm thick reinforced concrete Comdeck slabs incorporating the Abbey Pynford galvanised sacrificial straight shutter system.
  • The design and construction of a spanning system, incorporated within some of the proposed slabs, to bridge a Thames Water sewer of 2.4m diameter located 6m below ground level.

Housedeck on Brownfield Site

Scope of work : Concrete working surface, Rotary Displacement Piling, voided Housedeck RC slab with Brick Support Unit

The housing developer needed to minimise the volume of spoil removed from this brownfield site and so selected the Abbey Pynford housedeck system supported on Rotary Displacement Piles (RDP).

The RDP technique has been developed by Abbey Pynford to construct hollow stem injected bored piles using our fleet of midi piling rigs (circa 13T).  These piles produce virtually no spoil arisings and the use of midi rigs typically removes the requirement for a piling mat, further reducing the volume of spoil removed from site.  In addition the flat slab Housedeck system ensures that below ground drainage can be installed as shallow as possible.

A suspended raft slab constructed upon our re-usable Deck Support Units with perimeter Brick Support Units and air vents provided a complete heave protection system to meet warranty provider requirements.

The Housedeck system suits any superstructure construction and on this project timber frames with external brick skin was used.
