Role Overview

The Junior Design & Proposals Engineer is responsible for assisting the delivery the business sales strategy for the assigned Abbey Pynford product offerings as part of the Proposals Team.

In addition to the Junior Design & Proposals Engineer will assist the Design Manager in the delivery of detailed designs for our Housedeck & Underpinning offerings by the completion of detailed designs as required.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist the Proposals Manager to secure work and develop new business opportunities that may rise.
  • Accurately prepare quotations considering all costs associated with the delivery of projects.
  • Deliver efficient and effective customer service at all times.
  • Assist the Design Manager to produce efficient designs both in terms of design time and construction on site to meet the ever-changing demands of the construction industry.
  • Work with technical staff and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Attend client meetings, pre-starts etc. as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified to degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant Engineering discipline (Structural or Civil Engineering).
  • University degree. Relevant work experience during university will be looked upon favourably.
  • Familiar with the relevant design standards & guidance British Standards, Eurocodes, CIRIA Documents, BRE, NHBC, Premier etc.
  • Estimating & commercially aware
  • Have strong working knowledge of the unique selling propositions and differentiators of products
  • Analytical and numeracy skills.
  • Creative problem-solving ability.
  • The ability to work in a team.
  • Written communication.
  • Time management, organisation, and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • A flexible approach to work and the ability to adapt to change.
  • A driven, self-motivated attitude and the ability to use initiative.
